Free Video Showing and Tours of Three Wilkinsburg Churches
Saturday, September 28, 2024

Situated in the Park Triangle neighborhood of Wilkinsburg and located within very short walking distances of each other are three churches that have long and interesting histories in our borough: Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Covenant Fellowship Reformed Presbyterian Church, and St. Mark A.M.E. Church.

The pastors and congregations of each are extending a warm welcome to visitors to view a short but wonderfully informative video about their church, to tour their sanctuary, and to ask any questions that may come to mind.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The tour will begin at Mount Calvary Baptist Church (1511 Swissvale Avenue), then proceed to Covenant Fellowship Reformed Presbyterian Church (1300 Swissvale Avenue), and end at Saint Mark A.M.E. Church (1409 Montier Street) where refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the tour. Each church is just a 5-minute walk from the other.

This is a great opportunity for Wilkinsburg residents and the public at large to view these spaces, and it’s even a special opportunity for other denominations within our “City of Churches” to become more familiar with each other.

This tour is being sponsored by RAH, the Religious Architectural Heritage Committee of Preservation Pittsburgh. For questions, please call Preservation Pgh 412-690-0743 or email Amy at afisher@preservationpgh.org for further information.
