A newspaper story on June 4, 1955, with the heading "Wilkinsburg Church opens new building" and a photo tells,

Dedication of the new $150,000 educational building of the First Presbyterian Church, Wallace Avenue and Wood Street, Wilkinsburg, will be held at 11 a. m. tomorrow with the pastor, Dr. James R. Speer in charge. The new addition, above, includes a large gymnasium, meeting rooms, nursery, ladies lounge, seven Sunday school classrooms, two kitchenettes, pastor's study and office for the director of Christian Education and sexton's quarters.

The “117 Years in Christ’s Service“ history records,

A major event in Dr. Speer's ministry was the construction of the Christian Education Building. This splendid structure contained a gymnasium, activity and class rooms and an apartment for the church custodian. It was dedicated to the Glory of God and the Service of Youth in June 1955. A cooperative week-day nursery school was opened there the same year.

A planning task force in 1977 recommended as one of the goals, “Adjust the size of hte facilities to the size and means of the congregation.”

In 1980, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Temple Association purchased the education building.
