In May of 1910 Lohr’s Hall became the regular meeting place for a group of evangelicals from several different churches who had been meeting informally in homes since October of 1909 and needed a larger space. They became “The Union Gospel Committee for the Promotion of Full Salvation.”
A petition in 1910 called for the establishment of an independent church. In January of 1911 an organization meeting took place. The church name became the Union Gospel Church of Wilkinsburg. The congregation called Pastor J. T. Moberly.
With an increase in attendance, the congregation built a church on Hay Street near Penn Avenue. The dedication service took place in December of 1912.
In August of 1930 the congregation moved to the former Waverly Presbyterian Church at Waverly Street and Peebles Street.______
